Hull City are delighted to announce that versatile defender Alfie Jones has signed a new two-year contract, with a Club option of a further year.
The 23-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions during an impressive debut season at the KCOM Stadium in 2020/21.
Signed from Southampton last September, Bristol-born Jones featured 31 times in the league and only tasted defeat in two of the 27 league matches he started.
The dependable defender was the model of consistency and composure whether deployed at centre-half or in defensive midfield and played a significant role during the title run-in.
Starting the final 15 games, he formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Jacob Greaves as the Tigers went 14 matches unbeaten, a run which delivered promotion and then the League One title.
Head Coach Grant McCann said: “We’re delighted to tie Alfie down on a longer deal. Alfie’s performances have been at a consistently high level since joining the Club.
“With him being in the option year of his contract, it was important we got him signed up for longer. I’m looking forward to working with him over the next few years and I believe he will only get better and better.”
Alfie Jones is available to sponsor for the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship season. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
