Grant McCann is hoping to have Alfie Jones back available for tomorrow’s trip to Wigan Athletic.
The 23-year-old has missed Hull City’s last four matches with a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-0 victory over Swindon Town at the end of January.
But the versatile ex-Southampton man is now nearing a return to first-team action, with Tom Eaves and Gavin Whyte also on the mend.
“Hopefully we’ll have Alfie back with us on Wednesday,” said the Tigers’ Head Coach.
“Tom Eaves and Gavin Whyte aren’t too far away either, probably two weeks for them.
“Once we start getting players back, there’s more competition, there’s more options (on the bench) to try and get us the points in games when we need to.”
Left-back Max Clark was omitted from the matchday squad for the MK Dons defeat and McCann revealed he is still building up his fitness.
“We’re trying to get more training into Max,” McCann explained.
“Callum (Elder)’s in good form so we didn’t want to waste Max (on Saturday) and have him doing some running after the game.
“We’re getting some extra training into him. Initially, we were going to play him in an U23s game on Monday but that was cancelled.
“We’re trying to get as much training into Max as possible for when he’s ready.”
