Hull City are delighted to announce that the iconic blackout Umbro 2021/22 away kit will be extended to the 2022/23 season as the club’s third kit.
The decision has been made due to the unprecedented demand from fans, which has resulted in the away kit selling out twice already this season. The most recent order sold out in less than 24 hours at the beginning of December after being made available exclusively to Members.
With the shirt still being highly sought after, the club has decided to extend the fan favourite design into next season as the designated third kit, and have placed a new, significantly larger, order with Umbro. We will confirm timescales on that order in due course.
Speaking about the decision, Chief Commercial Officer Joe Clutterbrook said: “Quite frankly we have been blown away by the reaction to the shirt. In all honesty we weren’t prepared for the demand to be as high as it has been, and that demand, combined with delivery issues caused by Covid and Brexit, has left a number of our fans, quite rightly, frustrated.
“The decision to extend the use of the kit into next season is an apology to those fans who haven’t been able to get their hands on one yet, and to those who have only recently taken delivery of their shirts.
“We’d like to thank all of our supporters for their patience and understanding on this matter, and also say another huge thank you to our Principal Partners, Giacom, who have again shown great backing to the Club by allowing us to roll the kit on for another season.”
Manufactured by Umbro, the striking black kit features a tone-on-tone front stripe with an embroidered black tonal crest, stylised crew neckline, bespoke back of neck sign-off with ‘Tigers’ lettering and a dropped hem.
Further updates on the new order will be communicated in due course.
