McCann reveals no fresh injury concerns ahead of Forest

16 December 2021

Grant McCann has revealed that he has no fresh injuries to contend with ahead of this weekend’s trip to Nottingham Forest.

The Tigers will be looking to extend their six-match unbeaten run in the Championship at the City Ground, and several first-team players who played for the Under-23s on Monday will be hoping to feature.

Harvey Cartwright, Brandon Fleming, Matt Smith, George Moncur, Andy Cannon, Randell Williams and Tyler Smith were all in action at the LNER Community Stadium as the Under-23s ran out 4-3 winners against Peterborough United.

“Brandon (Fleming) picked up a good 70 minutes in the reserve game against Peterborough United,” McCann said.

“A lot of the other (first-team) players picked up good minutes in that game. Unfortunately, we were only able to play three over-age players or else I would’ve also got some minutes into Tom Eaves and Tom Huddlestone.

“It was nice to see a lot of players get minutes in that game - it puts them in better stead. We didn’t pick up any fresh injuries from last week (against Bristol City) either.

“All in all, it was worth us doing that. The boys will be better for it given the fact that we’re going into a busy period.”
