McCann & Honeyman nominated for November awards

9 December 2021

Grant McCann and George Honeyman have been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards for November.

The Tigers accrued 12 points from 15 available, more than doubling the club’s overall tally, scoring seven goals and conceding only two, keeping three clean sheets.

A valiant effort went unrewarded as the month began with a narrow 1-0 reverse at high-flying West Bromwich Albion.

McCann’s charges responded with a well-deserved 2-0 victory at Barnsley, with Honeyman scoring the opening goal – a clinical first-time effort into the bottom corner – and setting up the second for Keane Lewis-Potter.

The midfielder bagged again as the Tigers won by the same scoreline against Birmingham City, tapping in Ryan Longman’s cut-back from inside the six-yard box.

It was from his inswinging corner that Lewis-Potter scored the only goal in a gritty 1-0 victory at Cardiff City.

And Honeyman was the inspiration again as the winning run extended to four matches, scoring the Tigers’ first on his 100th Hull City appearance in the 2-1 victory over Millwall.

McCann faces competition from Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray, Fulham chief Marco Silva and Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton.

Honeyman is up against AFC Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony, Derby County striker Tom Lawrence and QPR wide forward Chris Willock.

The Manager and Player of the Month winners will be announced on Friday 10th December.
