Level-Headed Lewis-Potter On The Task Ahead

20 April 2021

Keane Lewis-Potter knows that Hull City can’t afford to take their foot off the pedal as the league leaders prepare to host third-placed Sunderland on Tuesday night.

The Tigers are currently on an eleven-game unbeaten run with nine wins and two draws in that period, but Lewis-Potter says only a continuation of that kind of consistency will do at this stage of the season.

“We’re coming up against another good side on Tuesday night and it will be another tough game for us,” said Lewis-Potter.

“We’ll be looking to do all we can to get another result and, if we can play like we have done for the majority of the last couple of months, we will give ourselves a good chance. We’ve been on a great run but we have to keep that going.

“We prepare for every game in the same way. The target is always to get a win and we’re not thinking about anything other than the next game. We’ll remain level-headed and take each game as it comes because, if we don’t, things can go wrong. We don’t look at other results, concentrating on ourselves and what we do is all we can do. That is the approach we have as individuals and as a squad.”

Lewis-Potter is also keen to keep his own recent form going. The 20-year-old has scored six goals in his last eight appearances, taking his league tally for the season to 12, but the Hull-born forward is always keen to improve.

“I’m working on trying to be more clinical,” Lewis-Potter continued.

“I’ve got into some good positions this season but haven’t always put the ball away when I should have. If I can be more clinical it’s going to result in more goals and me helping the team out more, and that is a massive part of my game.”
