Sheaf: I want to make a difference

29 September 2020

Hull City U23 Max Sheaf has expressed his desire to continue making a difference for the team after a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday U23’s.

The midfielder scored his second goal in as many games as the Tigers climbed to the top of the U23 Professional Development League North table with the win at the KCOM Stadium.

“The lads have got a good momentum now and there’s a good disciplinary about us,” said Sheaf.

“I think that’s three clean sheets in a row, so the lads all the way from the back to the front are solid and we’ve got a good understanding with each other and that runs through from the first-team.

“I thought Sheffield set up quite difficult to break down and I thought we dealt with it well and we were patience. We tried to play out as best as possible and we played the right way and in the end our patience paid off. I think our fitness came through in the end as well.

“I remember for my goal running at the back stick and thinking what if the ball comes to me and it was actually quite a difficult one, because it gave me a long time to think about it and I had to keep my cool and slot it into the bottom corner.

“I was a bit disappointed second half though as I think I should have finished a couple more, because I just want to make a difference in the team and that’s the sort of way to make a name for yourself and take my game to the next level, which is to add more goals to my game.”
