Elder: Keep Building Momentum

25 September 2020

Hull City left-back Callum Elder wants to see the Tigers continue to build on their early-season momentum.

The Australian was back in the starting XI during the win against Leeds United after returning from injury, but admitted it was a frustrating road to recovery.

“The recovery from my injury was a bit more difficult than I would’ve liked,” said Elder. “I took a bit of time over the summer and during pre-season to get myself right, but I’ve worked hard with the physios and the strength and conditioning coaches to get ready for the start of the season.

“A winning environment is always important for the squad. It’s been a good start, but that’s all it’s been so far. We need to continually tick off wins to keep our momentum building.

“The squad is looking fit and we’ve got players scoring goals in good form so it’s about knuckling down on the training pitch, working hard and continuing to do what we’ve been doing.”

The 25 year-old was delighted to return during the penalty shoot-out win at Elland Road and is keen to maintain a high level of performances due to the competition for places in Grant McCann’s team.

“It was great to be back out there with the lads in Leeds, especially when they’re flying,” he said. “The boys were two wins to the good by the time I came back into the squad, which means that you’ve got to perform at a high standard to meet with the way that the lads on the pitch are performing.

“It’s great to be back in the team and I’m looking forward to the games to come.”
