Greaves Proud To Make Hull City League Debut

23 October 2020

Academy product Jacob Greaves expressed his delight after making his league debut for Hull City.

The 20 year-old defender has now featured in back-to-back League One fixtures for the Tigers, with both results ending in three points and a clean sheet.

“I’ve grown up watching Hull City and I know a lot about it,” said Greaves. “It’s my hometown Club and it means everything for me to play for them.

“My family are delighted as well. It’s their Club too so it means that little bit more to me and if I can follow in my dad’s footsteps then that will be good.

“I was delighted to get two clean sheets in my first two starts. That’s your bread and butter as a defender and you want to get the clean sheets. Long may it continue.

“I think for my age I’m quite mature in how I play so I bring a calm head to the team. I like to keep the ball and keep it simple, but also hit a few killer passes which the gaffer likes for us to break lines.

“It was massive for me to go out to Cheltenham and play some games. It can be quite a whirlwind at the start when you’re first playing in front of fans so it settled me down for when I came back so I have that know-how of how to play and win games.”
