McCann lauds 'sensational' Lewis-Potter goal

2 November 2020

Keane Lewis-Potter continued his rich vein of form with a stunning solo goal against Swindon.

Receiving the ball from George Honeyman just inside his own half, the 19-year-old surged forward at pace, shrugging off the challenge of Jonny Smith.

He advanced to the edge of the box before stroking a perfectly-placed right-footed shot beyond Robins keeper Matej Kovar and into the bottom corner.

It was the youngster’s sixth goal of the season and second in as many matches – and arguably his best so far.

Head Coach Grant McCann was certainly impressed but says the forward must keep working hard on improving his all-round game.

“I thought it was a sensational finish from him,” said McCann. “To pick it up from where he picked it up and drive forward, the calmness to just pass it in the corner.

“I thought he showed real maturity in that finish, and in some of his performance as well.

“He needs to keep learning and keep getting better. Keep working like he is, keep understanding the role he’s asked to do in the team.

“He’s doing really well at the moment.”
