McCann expecting stern Ipswich test

24 November 2020

Hull City take on third-placed Ipswich in a top-of-the-table clash at Portman Road this evening.

The Tigers climbed to the League One summit with victory at MK Dons – their fifth win on the bounce in all competitions.

Paul Lambert’s Town are two points behind and maintained their 100% home record with a dramatic comeback win over Shrewsbury.

Grant McCann is expecting a stern examination from the Tractor Boys but has challenged his players to build on the result at Stadium MK.

“It’ll be a tough game down there,” admitted McCann.

“They’re a team near the top end of the table, like ourselves.

“They’ve got a good manager in Paul Lambert and they play a similar way to us.

“It’s a tough week for us – starting away to MK Dons, then travelling to Ipswich and then Stevenage in the cup on Sunday.

“It’s a big week and we started it quite well with three points. Let’s see if we can follow it up.”

Greg Docherty could return after missing the MK Dons match with a thigh injury.

The game may come too soon for Keane Lewis-Potter, who only returned to training on Friday after a period of self-isolation.
