Magennis called up for international triple-header

10 November 2020

Josh Magennis has been called up by Northern Ireland for their crucial international triple-header.

First up is a Euro 2020 play-off final against Slovakia at Windsor Park on Thursday 12th November.

Ian Baraclough’s men know victory will secure qualification to next summer’s finals, where they will join three-time winners Spain, Sweden and Poland in Group E.

The Green and White Army are bidding to reach their second consecutive European Championships.

Bangor-born Magennis was a key part of the side that qualified for Euro 2016 – Northern Ireland’s first major tournament in 30 years.

Almost immediately after their play-off finishes, attention will turn to the Nations League as NI travel to Austria on Sunday 15th November before hosting Romania three days later.

Northern Ireland are bottom of Nations League Group B1 ahead of the final two rounds of fixtures, with one point from a possible 12.

Austria lead the way with nine points, level with second-placed Norway, with Romania third on four points.

Magennis' involvement with his country means he will miss Hull City's next three matches against Harrogate, Burton and Grimsby.
