Hare: Doncaster Test Is Going To Be Tough

18 November 2020

Hull City U18 Joint Manager Matt Hare says his team is expecting nothing but a tough fixture as they face Doncaster Rovers.

The young Tigers will host their Yorkshire rivals at the KCOM Stadium in the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup, with the winners of the tie facing a trip to either Altrincham or Peterborough United in the Third Round.

“It will be a very tough fixture,” said Hare.

“Doncaster will be well organised and will be looking to play on the front foot. Both teams will be wanting to beat one another regardless of their category status; it’s a knock out cup fixture and a game we won’t be taking lightly.

“The experience of playing at a first team ground under the flood lights was a good experience for the lads in the First Round, but it’s now a different experience for them having to play in their home stadium; a place they have worked hard to play at for many years.

“It’ll be a great experience for the team to play at the KCOM Stadium. It would have been good for the boys to play in front of fans, but that can’t be helped in the current climate, so it’s now about the taking the opportunity and performing as well as we know they can play.

“The mood in the camp is good. We had a number of players that went away with the U23’s last week and had a positive experience against QPR, following the U18’s victory against Bristol City last time out.

“We believe in the way we set out to play and have had some positive performances and results and we believe our style of play is the best way in progressing to the next round.”
