Greaves signs new three-year contract

12 November 2020

Hull City are delighted to announce that promising defender Jacob Greaves has signed a new three-year contract, with a Club option of a further year.

The 20-year-old has made five senior appearances for the Tigers this season, helping keep three clean sheets.

A product of the Club’s academy, which he joined aged eight, the Cottingham-born centre-back was handed his professional debut against Leicester U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy in September.

That was followed by a league debut in the 3-0 win at Rochdale and further first-team outings against AFC Wimbledon, Peterborough and Fleetwood in the FA Cup.

“Jacob has come on leaps and bounds over the last 12-14 months,” said Head Coach Grant McCann.

“The loan to Cheltenham was great for him – the physical battles of League Two, the demands of it, and he played in a good footballing team.

“The experience of that has carried on since coming back to us and he has started the season really well.

“He’s been brilliant and has had three clean sheets in his last four games.

“He’s going to have ups and downs. There are going to be challenges but he’s growing and learning every day.

“We’re really pleased because he’s got a bright future.

“He’s one of our own, he loves the Club, his dad (Mark Greaves) played for the Club. It’s great news for everyone at the Club.”
