Reece Burke was delighted to get off the mark with a goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town.
The centre back grabbed his first competitive goal for the Tigers, with his last goal coming for West Ham in their 1-0 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town in 2018.
And now the 24 year-old is hoping to add more goals to his tally for Grant McCann’s side.
“I thought the team did well,” said Burke. “We wanted to get our own back on Fleetwood after what happened in the league at their place recently and we put in a really good performance. They didn’t really threaten us much so we’re pleased with the performance and the win.
“The goal has been a while coming. It’s been a long wait and I’d been speaking a few weeks ago about getting closer. We’ve been working hard on set-pieces on the training ground and I’ve now managed to get my first goal for the Club. I should have scored another one soon after it to be fair, but hopefully there will be many more to come now. Hopefully I can score some in the league because that is where it really matters.
“I’ve been putting some extra work in on the training ground in terms of my heading and jumping, and hopefully that will keep paying off.
“I’m sure my family enjoyed watching the goal, especially my dad as he would be at every game if he was allowed right now.”
