Hull City U18 Joint Manager John Anderson says it’ll be a big occasion for his team as they face Crewe Alexandra.
The young Tigers will travel to face the Railwaymen in the First Round of the FA Youth Cup at the Alexandra Stadium and will be looking to get back to winning ways after a 5-3 away defeat against Colchester United last time out.
“It’s the FA Youth Cup and it’s always a big night for the boys,” said Anderson.
“It’s something that we always look to when the draw comes around every year and the boys are always looking to see who we get, so they’ll will be looking forward to it and they’ll be excited by it.
“It’ll be fantastic for the boys to play at a professional stadium. I’ll know they’ll be no fans there, but the fact they’re getting to play at a stadium on a first-team pitch is great experience for them. For some of them, it’ll be a brand new experience for them and it’s under the lights as well, so it’ll be a really good night.
“Whenever you play Crewe, home or away, it’s always a tough fixture. They’re a very good footballing team and they always have been, so we expect a very, very tough game.
“We’ve spoken about the recent performances in the last couple of games against Millwall and Watford that there were some really positive performances and results. Saturday against Colchester wasn’t a great result, but from the minute we came back through the door at the Academy, we spoke about the game and obviously how disappointed we are about it, but we also told them to try and stay positive and look forward to Crewe. We’ll try to keep everyone positive and get their mindsets to be positive as well.”
