Chadwick joins Halifax on loan

19 December 2020

Young forward Billy Chadwick has joined National League side FC Halifax Town on a one-month loan.

The 20-year-old goes straight into the squad for the Shaymen’s FA Trophy third-round tie at home to Hartlepool United this afternoon.

Pete Wild’s side are 16th in the fifth tier, four points adrift of the play-off places and eight points above the relegation zone.

Hull-born Chadwick signed a new contract with the Tigers last month that will keep him at the KCOM Stadium until the summer of 2022.

The talented attacker has made five substitute appearances for Hull City this season, converting penalties in shootouts against Leeds United, Stevenage and Crewe Alexandra.

“We said a few weeks back we wanted to get Billy sorted on a longer contract, which is now done,” said Head Coach Grant McCann.

“We feel Billy has got a really bright future here. He’s been involved in quite a few games for us this season, some in the league, some in the cups.

“He’s done really well, come on and scored three penalties in the shootouts. He’s been really confident in front of goal.

“It’s the right time for Billy to go to a really good level, to a manager myself and Cliff (Byrne) know well in Pete Wild.

“He’s going to play some games there and get exposed to that level and this is the next stage of his development.

“It’s a perfect opportunity for Billy to show what he’s about at a good level.”
